Student athletes can receive COVID-19 vaccines, UIL exams, heart screenings
MIDLOTHIAN Methodist Midlothian Medical Center is partnering with Midlothian ISD to offer COVID-19 vaccinations and UIL sports physicals to student athletes in middle and high school. The vaccination clinic, physicals, and echocardiograms will take place at Methodist Family Health Center – Midlothian (979 Don Floyd Drive, Suite 124) on June 5th from 8 a.m. to noon.
Methodist Health System will be administering COVID-19 vaccinations to those age 12 and up during the event on a first come, first served basis. This service is available to all residents, not just student athletes, and will be conducted during the same time as the sports physicals. Methodist has administered more than 70,000 vaccines to its employees, patients, first responders, teachers, and members of the public.

Texas Oncology has opened a 10,000 square-foot cancer care clinic in Midlothian on the newly completed campus of Methodist Midlothian Medical Center. It will offer medical oncology, hematology, surgical oncology, and urology services for breast, colon, rectal cancer. The center will house comprehensive urologic care, reproductive system disorders, and support services such as risk evaluation, testing, cancer screening and prevention, and an on-site lab.
UT Southwestern has launched a COVID-19 vaccination portal where eligible individuals can sign up to receive the vaccine. If a patient meets state criteria or has a medical condition as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can complete a questionnaire to be registered as a UT

On Monday, Methodist Midlothian Medical Center announced the delivery of its first baby in the labor and delivery department after opening its doors in December.
Baby Wyatt is the baby that has been allotted this title, as he was born at 9:14 p.m., weighing at 8 pounds, 3 ounces to Haley and Zach Stewart.
The labor and delivery department only opened its doors in January, awaiting to deliver a newborn. We certainly hope and expect Wyatt will be the first of many babies born at Methodist Midlothian, said Ryan Owen, director of public relations for the Methodist Health System.
Health systems receive COVID shipments for use in frontline personnel

The first shipments of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine are arriving in North Texas, but it will be a while before most Ellis County residents will be able to roll up their sleeves.
Methodist Health System, which includes the new Methodist Midlothian Medical Center, announced on Monday that it had received the first shipment of the vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine was approved for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday.
“We are excited to be among the first in the state of Texas and nation to receive and administer this vital vaccine,” James Scoggin, Jr., Methodist Health System Chief Executive Officer, said Monday in a press release.
