climate agreement, scott pruitt, the energy epa. epa administrator has said that he intends to roll back as many of the obama-era regulations as he can. we don t know quite what the department of energy is doing, but apparently they are also making efforts. how significant is this roll back that is taking place under the donald trump administration, does it work? yes, it does. some of it is being stopped by the congress, the so-called methane rule is being vetoed in the senate. but they re trying to codify some of these destructive changes to eliminate environmental regulations. and pruitt just announced that he wants to lift the rule prohibiting mercury in water ways that pollute water
iran economically, we do that by supplanting their exports in crude. and we have to do that by our energy independence as well as infrastructure. lot of concerns about some obama-era regulations being rolled back that might be harmful to the environment. what do you say to those critics? we re going to do it right. it s better to produce energy here under reasonable regulation. as an example, the methane rule. everyone should realize my position on methane is that it s a waste to vent methane but we need to have the injection systems in place. but if you don t have a pipeline, you can t build collection systems you end up isolating assets. we, as a country, all the above energy policy is prudent. we can do it right, hold industry accountable. but also jobs matter and there s a social cost of not having jobs
here. we had to do the vetting and do our job. that vote should be delayed is what should happen. senator, finally, congressional lawmakers are turning to the congressional review act to dismantle regulations that came in late in president obama s final term. is this all fair game? it s fair game and it s law. it s only been used once. it s a very blunt instrument. they are dismantling things that are very much in the public interest. the methane rule, we have a huge methane cloud, the size of delaware, over new mexico and the four corners area. we are trying to clean that up. it s good in cleaning it up for public health. it s good to tackle climate change. they are going to repeal it and just blow out a whole area that we would be able to move forward on. this is very discouraging to me. we hope that we can get the votes here to head this off. senator tom udall, thanks for
