Meteorologist Jesse Gunkel joins Spectrum News 1 in Milwaukee

Jesse Gunkel, who s been a meteorologist in Louisiana for more than 14 years, is joining Spectrum News 1 in Milwaukee. The attraction probably wasn t our recent swampy weather; Gunkel was born and raised in Waukesha County, and went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Gunkel, who had been chief meteorologist at WVLA-TV and WGMB-TV in Baton Rouge, will do weather reports on Spectrum News 1 Friday and Saturday mornings, and Sunday and Monday afternoons. His first official day on the job is this Friday, according to Spectrum. Spectrum News 1, the 24-hour Wisconsin and Milwaukee news channel owned by Spectrum, is available at, appropriately, Channel 1 on local Spectrum cable systems. Gunkel s addition increases the channel s meteorologist roster to seven.
