Radar indicated six possible tornadoes in southern Delaware and eastern Maryland late Thursday into Friday morning as Tropical Storm Elsa moved into the area, according to the National Weather Service.
A weather service warning had erroneously stated that a tornado had been confirmed near Sycamore, or 8 miles southwest of Georgetown, at 12:43 a.m. Friday. Meteorologist Dean Iovino later said radar had only suggested a tornado and that a survey would need to be completed in order to confirm any tornado. A survey will be done if any damage is reported, he said.
