videos posted to social media show protestors encountering gunfire and tear gas. kurdish rights group says special forces staysed on the roofs of government buildings opened fire on demonstrators. and now head of the revolutionary guard is warning that saturday is the last day of protests and they said do not come to the streets again. and nada bashir is joining us now. and so explain what that means, what the kons questionconsequen. reporter: and we ve seen the brutal tactics being used by the iranian security forces. tear gas, metal pellets being shot at the crowds and of course live fire being used against glon stra demonstrate tors. and now this warning and so concerns that the crackdown
taking to the streets, refusing to go to classes. now we are seeing organized strike action taking place. it is really remarkable to see six weeks on now how far this protest movement is going, how much momentum it has gained. protests taking place up and down the country. still, december spite the regime s brutal and deadly crackdown on peaceful protesters, using live fire ammunition, tear gas, metal pellets against peaceful protesters, we have seen reports of a rising death toll amongst demonstrators at the hands of the regime s security forces. still, these protests continue. we saw over the weekend strike action taking place in iran s northwestern kurdish region in the kurdish capital. we saw really the streets being quite eerily quiet in response to the protests. many shops choosing to close their storefronts in strike action, in solidarity with the protest movement. we saw protests taking place in
injuries over the past few weeks, anderson. the security forces not only using live ammunition, according to human rights groups, they re also shooting at them with metal pellets. they re filling up paint balls with metal pellets and shooting them at protesters. so, you end up with these horrific injuries. and protesters are too scared to go to hospitals because security forces are going to hospitals and clinics, identifying protesters by the same injuries they ve inflicted on them. we ve had reports of doctors arrested, ambulances being used to detain protesters. and you end up in a situation where these protesters tell us they don t know who to trust. they don t know what to do right now. some are relying on a small underground network of doctors who are risking their lives helping them. and then you ve got others who are reaching out to the iranian community abroad, including the u.s., asking them for helping, connecting them to doctors.
