THE WOODLANDS, Texas There’s a family in The Woodlands who needs a miracle, a Hail Mary pass to save their child’s life.
Two of their children have a rare genetic disorder. The family says the disease is too advanced in their daughter, but it’s still possible to save their youngest son if enough people can help.
The local community is rallying around a young Leitrim couple who received the devastating news their young son has a rare disorder that results in loss of physical and mental skills.
Back in October, Shannon Kerrigan and Eoghan McCluskey from Tullaghan were told that their 4-year-old son, Riaghán, had been diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD).
The rare disorder, which has no cure, affects mainly the white matter of the brain, causing a progressive loss of physical and mental skills.
Riaghán, described as a happy and bubbly child, unfortunately already has lost the ability to walk unaided. He will require 24-hour care for the rest of his life.
