This was an excerpt published in the December 19, 1990 edition.
It was a large, white, two-story home just off the gravel road, on a farm in Blakeley Township, where Grandma lived. It was there her seven children and their families gathered on Christmas night after the âchoresâ were done. Christmas Day was spent with the âother sideâ except for my family. We went to the âotherâ grandmaâs on Christmas Eve so we could spend all of Christmas Day and night with Grandma.
After Mom died, we went there before Christmas to help Grandma decorate her house. I treasure the letters to the words Merry Christmas & Happy New Year that Grandma helped my brother and me cut out of cardboard from cereal boxes and cover with tinfoil.
