The 33-year-old Uruguayan signed a one-year deal in September after months without a club since leaving Paris Saint-Germain. United have the option to extend Cavani’s contract for another season and Solskjaer suggested he expects the club to do so.

However, Brazilian football club Santos, in a statement released on Saturday, claimed that Messi is yet to surpass its legend’s record. Santos put Pele’s total goal haul at 1,091. There has been a  lot of controversy about how many goals the all-time leading goal scorer for Brazil actually scored for Santos. While he has been credited with 643 goals for the Brazilian club Pele has claimed in the past that he scored over 1,000.
