the politics of the midterm elections and almost universal voter anxiety about the trajectory of the economy. it s not growing nearly as fast as it was the fourth quarter of last year or the first quarter of this year and the growth is decelerating, which is causing more people to think am i going to get a job or keep the one i have and those kinds of anxieties don t play well for a majority party heading toward a midterm election. martha: we ve heard about the white house is trying to get a bill or plan together to make things look slightly better for them as they head into the midterms. there are two factions in the white house, right now, economists and political message managers. the political message managers know the president and the democratic party is not going to be very well suited going into the midterm election saying what it said so far about the economy. they want something else to talk about, another package from the president. doesn t matter to them, necessarily, if
