Dan Whelan Arup, Shedkm and Asif Khan Architects are among designers heading up six teams selected by National Museums Liverpool for the next stage of a competition to revamp part of the Unesco World Heritage Site. Scroll down for a gallery of design submissions Spanning the area between the Royal Albert Dock and Mann Island, the transformation project will aim to improve the public realm and visitor experience at Canning Dock, revitalising the waterfront site.  NML wants to create “a cohesive visitor experience that links storytelling, heritage, community, connectivity, and commercial income”, acting as a catalyst for social and environmental improvements in the area, it said.

The renowned small plates restaurant and bar will open its new bar, The One O’Clock Gun, later this month. Maray teased the new venue back in March, but now new details have been confirmed - including its Albert Dock location. The bar will be serving up everything from pie from Great North Pie Co., pale ale created in collaboration with Liverpool’s Carnival Brewery, draught Guinness, wine on tap, and a cocktail list centered around a punchy range of sours.

Major contest planned for Liverpool’s museums quarter National Museums Liverpool (NML) has announced it will open an international placemaking competition in March The competition – led by Colander Associates – will select a multidisciplinary team with a ‘commitment to diversity’ to rethink prominent public spaces throughout Liverpool’s maritime quarter, which is at the heart of the city’s Unesco World Heritage Site. Advertisement Alongside the placemaking contest, NML has also announced its intention to separately expand the International Slavery Museum – currently co-located with the Merseyside Maritime Museum – to include the neighbouring Dock Traffic Office, which has been renamed the Dr Martin Luther King Jr Building.
