ORLANDO – Some lawmakers want to upgrade daycare vans with alarms that would go off if something or someone is left in the backseat.
Florida is second in the nation in hot car deaths, a bill aimed to lower this number is facing hurdles.
“I just can’t believe that this bill has taken so long to pass. This is going on the third year, and it is just crazy,” Sen. Linda Stewart said. “Every year we

“It could be parents going through a divorce. It could be a single-parent home, a homeless situation, a breakup with a boyfriend or girlfriend,” Chief Jeff O’Dell of the Kissimmee Police Department said.
With more than 30 years of experience under his belt, O’Dell knows how crises affect children differently.
“With kids, it could be anything. They could be teased or bullied, so we really have to have a well-rounded school resources officer.”

ORLANDO, Fla. – One of Central Florida’s busiest expressways is ready for an expansion. State Road 429, otherwise known as the Daniel Webster Western Beltway will begin the $350 million transformation from four lanes to six lanes later this year.
“The growth in Central Florida, especially in this area, has been very significant. Any regular driver of SR-429 knows exactly what I’m talking about,” said Will Hawthorne, director of engineering for the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX).
Hawthorne was one of several officials who spoke recently at a virtual public forum aimed at educating the public on a planned expansion.

The news left some residents overjoyed. “Yay! I’m all in,” Betty Fenner, 79, said. “I’m going to go away for the weekend!”
Fenner, a longtime Osceola resident, and teacher for more than 50 years has taken up virtual schooling to stay busy during the pandemic.
