When Merrimack residents learned in early 2016 that we had been drinking water that was contaminated with toxic PFAS chemicals for years due to a lack of state regulations, we turned to our elected officials for support, including our District 11.
The patchwork of laws and lawsuits remains uneven, and advocates say Americans need federal action to hold multinational companies accountable for past contamination, clean the waterways and systems now infected and impose sweeping bans on putting PFAS in new products.
