The run was done using factory internals. Impressive. Dec 14, 2020
Ford s new 7.3-liter Godzilla V-8 might use a more old-school push-rod design, but make no mistake: It s capable of big power, even with stock internals. Merkel Racing Engines of Hauppauge, New York was able to find out just how far those internals could go with forced induction during a recent dyno test. The answer? A whole lot. Related Story
Merkel Racing slapped a pair of 7875 VS Racing turbochargers to a stock 7.3-liter Godzilla V-8 the same engine found in today s Super Duty pickup to see how much power they could extract from the motor without having to crack it open. Paired with a set of bigger injectors, the team was able to squeeze out no less than 1113.8 horsepower at 5800 rpm using 15 psi of boost. Again, that s with stock rods, pistons, and valvetrain. Damn.
