Edwin Erwin McClure, whose Christian values and love of people drove him to a life of service to others, died Feb. 14 at NHC Johnson City with his daughter at
LARGO â Mary OâGearyâs life might have turned out a bit differently if her daughterâs Girl Scout troop had not wanted to go on that first camping trip.
The troop would need at least one parental supervisor with first-aid training, and, as luck would have it, OâGeary was chosen to be indoctrinated in the art of administering first aid.
âSince I was the only one that didnât work outside the home, I was elected to go take first-aid training at the American Red Cross,â OâGeary said.
That crash course in first aid not only enabled her daughterâs troop to go camping, but opened the doors to OâGearyâs own 50-year commitment to working for the American Red Cross that continues to this day.
