Published June 06. 2021 11:18PM  HAMDEN (AP) A Meriden man was arrested Sunday after he hit a police vehicle with his car in Hamden and then led officers on a 14-mile chase to his home, police said. Hamden police responded to a report of a driver who had passed out in his car at 4:30 a.m., Capt. Ronald Smith said in a news release. Officers found the vehicle, which was running. As an officer tried to put the car into park, driver Donald Woodson shoved the officer out of the car and nearly hit him with it, police said. Woodson s car did hit a Hamden police car, Smith said. Woodson then drove to the northbound entrance to Route 15 and continued north to Meriden despite striking a curb, which flattened his left front tire, police said.

One person was injured in one of the fires and taken to a hospital, while no other injuries were reported. A fire at an apartment building in New Haven late Friday afternoon displaced nine families, including 12 adults and seven children, fire officials said. Early Friday afternoon, a fire at a multifamily home in East Hartford left four adults and two children in two families homeless. A fire Friday morning in Tolland displaced four adults. Fire officials say one person was taken to a hospital and 12 rabbits died.
