A VAN was left dangling over a 40ft drop after sliding down an icy hill. North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service say the van s driver got out after being involved in a minor bump with another vehicle on Mere Lane, in Scarborough, before his van skidded backwards down the hill and came to rest hanging over a 40ft embankment. The incident, which happened at around 12.56pm yesterday, continued as another vehicle then skid down the hill and hit a fence. A spokesperson said: “There was no one injured and no damage to any of the vehicles. “Crews carried out scene safety only and used winch, HGV ratchet strap, and small tools to pull the van back on to the road.”
