Michigan adds 542 cases, 59 deaths from COVID-19
Michigan on Thursday added 542 cases and 59 deaths from the coronavirus.
The daily case total is the second lowest recorded since Sept. 22, when there were 504 reported cases. Of Thursday s deaths, 48 were identified during a delayed records review, the state said.
The figures bring Michigan s total number of cases to 886,660 and deaths to 19,090 since the virus was first detected in March 2020, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.
Cases and testing positivity in the state have declined for the last six weeks. The current statewide positivity rate is 6.6%.
Last week, Michigan added 8,578 cases and 332 deaths from the virus, a decrease from May 9-13 when the state added 11,991 new cases and 402 deaths from the virus. During the first week of May, the state added 18,248 new cases and 464 deaths from COVID-19.
