PANAMA CITY The Tyndall Air Force Base Civil Engineering Center brought Christmas cheer to 100 students at Lucille Moore Elementary School with presents and meals from Mercy Chefs on Dec. 17.
Lucille Moore officials selected 100 students who they felt could use some extra Christmas spirit, and Tyndall helped out with the gifts. Mercy Chefs did its part by providing meals to the families who might be less fortunate.
Cars started to line up in front of the school about 5 p.m. so students could pick up their Christmas gifts. They were greeted by Santa Claus, who spread Christmas cheer to the children as their parents drove in.
PARKER Parker Elementary School students received Christmas gifts from Hiland Park Baptist Church members again this year on Dec. 17.
The 620 students at Parker took home the newest Hot Wheels sets, Play-Doh and blankets. For many years, Hiland Park Baptist has donated bags of Christmas gifts to Parker Elementary and after being principal for several years, Chris Coan still is trying to wrap his head around it.
In 2018 and 2019, Christmas gifts were particularly important for the Parker Elementary children because most of their families were still recovering from Hurricane Michael. This year much of the need remains because the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a financial toll on families.
