Celebrating community and making vital connections was the message that the Mercer Island High School Black Student Union (BSU) brought forth at itssecond annual dinner on Feb. 7 in the school commons.

On Jan. 12, members of the Mercer Island High School Black Student Union (above) led a Martin Luther King Jr. Day assembly at Island Park Elementary School, and Lakeridge Elementary School (below) held a held a MLK Jr. Day gathering featuring its student council leaders. A Pride in the Park Celebration will take place from 3-6 p.m. on June 17 at Mercerdale Park. The Pride and city of Mercer Island free gathering will feature games, sweet treats, live music and an LGBTQIA+ book swap.
