RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. Delays continue in the cases of adult performer Mercedes Carrera and husband Daemon Cins, who have now been incarcerated without a trial on child sex abuse charges for more than two years. The couple was arrested on February 1, 2019, and charged with sexual offenses involving a girl who was then nine years old. Carrera said in a public statement that the alleged victim is her own daughter.
On Friday morning, according to court documents posted online, Carrera and Cins made another appearance before Judge Katrina West in San Bernardino County Superior Court, and saw their pre-trial hearing postponed for the 12th time. The documents gave no reason for the latest delay, which came just two weeks after their previous hearing, at which a continuance was also granted.

LOS ANGELES A pre-trial hearing in the Mercedes Carrera child sexual abuse case has been postponed repeatedly, but yesterday the number of delays hit double figures. According to court documents, San Bernardino Superior Court Judge Katrina West granted a new postponement during a court appearance Thursday, the date that had been set for the hearing.
The new pre-trial date was set for February 5, with a trial date no later than April 6 unless there is a further delay in the case. By law, any delay past 60 days must receive the consent of the defendants.
The delay is the 10th since an August 8 hearing at which prosecutors played an audio tape of the alleged victim, a nine-year-old girl, detailing what she said were a series of incidents of sexual contact with Carrera and co-defendant Daemon Cins, the longtime adult performer’s partner.

LOS ANGELES Mercedes Carrera and Daemon Cins were set to face a pre-trial hearing in child sex abuse charges Thursday, after remaining in jail for almost 23 months since their arrest. But for the ninth consecutive time, a judge granted a continuance in the case. The hearing is now scheduled for January 7, according to information from the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office.
The pre-trial hearing had already been postponed repeatedly since August 8 of 2019, when Carrera, a longtime performer in the adult industry, and Cins sat in a courtroom as prosecutors played a 75-minute audio recording of the alleged, nine-year-old victim in the case. Carrera, who denies the charges against her and along with Cins has entered pleas of not guilty, has publicly acknowledged that the girl making the accusations is her daughter.
