QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau, Balochistan, on Wednesday arrested a sitting and a former government officer on the charge of committing corruption of over one billion rupees.
A spokesman for the Balochistan NAB said that former secretary of Coastal Development and Fisheries Department Aftab Ahmed Baloch and sitting Director General of Fisheries Munir Mosiani had been taken into custody.
The initial investigation conducted by NAB officials revealed that the two officers awarded contracts for purchase of Green Fiber Glass boats, vessels monitoring system and patrolling boats to non-qualified companies.
NAB officials said that the companies were not registered with the Mercantile Marine Department. “The accused made huge payments to the companies without receiving boats and other machinery in May and June,” they said.
