Lady Toppers close out non-conference play with loss at Tennessee Tech

The Lady Toppers (1-5) fell short 73-59 in Cookeville, Tennessee against the Tennessee Tech Lady Golden Eagles (3-1). “Right now, we still play very frantic on the court,” head coach Greg Collins said. “We’re not strong enough and that shows up on the boards. Until we get a lot tougher on those boards and get a lot more settled with the ball we just aren’t going to beat anybody.”  Collins said there were also other issues with the team’s performance today including rebounding, boxing out, and turning the ball over. “The turnovers are the ultimate story,” Collins said. “We’re not gonna get shots if we’re just giving the ball away.

Lady Toppers fall to Mercer, game added for Sunday at Tennessee Tech

Senior Fatou Pouye led the Lady Toppers with 13 points and six rebounds.  “I don’t feel like it was a 17 point difference,” head coach Greg Collins said. “I felt like overall they kept fighting. Every time we were in the huddle they knew to keep fighting.”  Tipoff went to the Lady Toppers as freshman Hope Sivori snagged the ball from a pass by senior Fatou Pouye. WKU’s opening drive ended up resulting in a shot clock violation. It wasn’t until the third minute that the first points were dropped. Mercer drove to the basket to make it a two-point game.

Lady Toppers drop third straight in Little Rock, five game homestand begins Wednesday

The Lady Toppers (0-3) were unable to come back to win against the Lady Trojans (3-2) on Sunday evening in the second road game of the season. Little Rock came out on top 63-47.  The Lady Toppers traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas for their first game in a series of four over the time span of nine days. “I’m not happy with it at all,” head coach Greg Collins said. “We got outrebounded by about 15 again. We work constantly on defensive rebounding and still did not come up with those boards ending those possessions.”  Collins also communicated that he’s unhappy that the team’s effort was unable to put points on the board, which was something evident in the Lady Toppers last two games.
