Man challenges order keeping him detained as involuntary patient at psychiatric facility NATIONAL NEWS   ); A man with a mental health condition has brought a High Court challenge against a decision to extend his detention at a psychiatric facility. The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, claims that proper reasons were not given by the Mental Health Tribunal why his detention was extended to July of this year. The man who is aged in his late thirties, suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and has been an involuntary patient for the last two years on foot of orders made under the 2001 Mental Health Act.
