This one. This one. There was kind of some argument about, well, which came first . We need to address the Substance Abuse issue before we can make headway on the Mental Health issue. On the flip side, the Mental Health practitioners would say, no, we need to address the depression or what have you before we can really make headway on the Substance Use. And i think what people are really beginning to understand, especially in the last decade, that they have to be treated at the same time and not just treated at the same time in parallel, but treated at the same time in a very integrated fashion. If you google dual disorder, you will see hypertension and diabetes, but you never hear problems in treating those two disorders. I think the reason is doctors, nurses, pharmacists are educated in both, and, very importantly, the money comes out of the same pot. So, so often theres a separate pot for Mental Health money and Substance Abuse money, and it has produced an unnecessary, really divis
We watch people who learn to love themselves. Then they understand the freedom of gods forgiveness, and then we learn to forgive ourselves. Teen challenge has saved my life. I came through jail with no hope, and i was able to find hope in Teen Challenge. I was able to learn about god and how much he loved me. And when i left, i had learned to apply all the things i learned through the word of god to my life. When a person comes here, they are broken, theyve lost everything, they have a sense of shame. And when they come to Teen Challenge they are built up with this hope that things can change, that things really can be different. And when they begin to embrace that and allow god to come into their lives and allow other people to embrace them in their places of brokenness, then transformation begins to come, and its a joy to see the miracles of Teen Challenge. Alison, you spoke earlier that your Organization Provides peer support. How does peer support play a role in providing Recovery
Recovery, or that are in treatment, to have a place to go. Was it important for you, ben . Yeah, it was absolutely, it was very, very important for me to have a place to go. Now, upon leaving treatment, the last time i was able to get into a closure recovery program, and i think for me, i know that many of the triggers for using were social, and so to have a group of friends who were also in recovery, where we could talk about what we were going through, and we could just have fun in recovery, was very vitally important for me to maintain my recovery. So, there would be an alternative way without drugs or alcohol . Yes. To really enjoy oneself . Absolutely. Very good. Vanna, in terms of your program, you know, we have to be realistic. What are some of the challenges in providing these types of support groups for people, for example, that may receive services from a Youth Service provider . Some of the challenges for young adults compared to adults is young people kind of step to dance
