Mfantseman MP-elect donates to Saltpond Hospital on murdered husband’s birthday
Member of Parliament-Elect for Mfantseman, Ophelia Mensah Hayford who’s the wife of the slain Member of Parliament, Ekow Quansah Hayford, has donated to the Saltpond Government Hospital in the Central Region on the occasion of her late husband’s 50th birthday.
According to Mrs. Hayford, she did the donation in memory of her late husband who while alive had planned to donate to the hospital on 24th December 2020 which is his birthday.
“Though he was not able to meet his objective of donating to the hospital due to the shooting incident, I deemed it to do it on his behalf because I have promised the good people of the Mfantseman Municipality to continue everything my husband had started and what he has left aside and complete it.”
Mrs Ophelia Mensah Hayford, Member of Parliament (MP) elect for Mfantseman has pledged her commitment to empower women and the youth to make informed decisions in the Constituency.
“My biggest vision is investing and building up responsible women and youth who will freely make informed decisions and take responsibilities for their lives in order to contribute to national development,” she said.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday, the Mfantseman MP elect said there was the need for a paradigm shift from individualism to collective pursuance of growth and development.
Mrs Hayford explained that her focus was to bring on board, fresh minds to constructively strategize on creating role models in the communities to impact positively on the lives of the people in her Constituency.

I’ll make Mfantseman Constituency the stronghold of NPP - MP-elect promises
The Member of Parliament (MP)-elect for Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region, Ophelia Mensah Hayford has vowed to make the area a stronghold of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in order to achieve her late husband’s legacy in Mfantseman.
According to her, her late husband’s hard work as an MP for Mfantseman Constituency pushed her to accept the party s appeals to lead as its parliamentary candidate which resulted in her victory.
Mrs. Mensah Hayford replaced her late husband, Mr. Ekow Kwansah Hayford who was the party’s Parliamentary candidate for Mfantseman Constituency until he met his untimely death following his gruesome killing by some unknown assailants on Friday, October 9, 2020, while returning from a campaign tour.
