The 988 Suicide and Crisis lifeline connects callers to a national network of trained counselors including our own local Memphis Crisis Center All anyone must do is text or call those three digits: 988.
Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris made a visit to the Memphis Crisis Center, the local redirection for Memphians who contact the national suicide and crisis line, 988.
In July, 988 will become the number to dial the national suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline. In Shelby County, calls will be answered by locals.
