Savannah council extends suspension of Tree House liquor license
Tree House bar in City Market will remain closed until April after Savannah City Council extended the suspension of the bar’s alcohol license following a show cause hearing Thursday. The license was first suspended on Jan. 29 following a shooting death at the bar on New Year’s Day.
After the hearing, which lasted more than two hours, the council unanimously voted to suspend the bar’s liquor license until April 1. Once the bar reopens it will be under a 90 day monitored probation period.
Before they reopen, the bar is required to update the standards in its security plan and present it back to council for approval. The bar s owner, Stu Putman will also be required to meet with District 2 Alderman Detric Leggett, the Downtown Neighborhood Association and Savannah Downtown Business Association before reopening.
