The annual Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas Triathlon returns to Galveston this weekend.
The competition features a swim of more than a mile, a half-marathon run, and a 56-mile bike ride.
It gets underway at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday and ends at 1:30 p.m.
The bike race and part of the run course will be on Stewart Road, Cove View Boulevard, and FM 3005, so island residents and visitors can expect road closures and traffic delays.

Officials with the race verified Thursday that all plans were on schedule for the race to occur despite a stubborn surge of the coronavirus across Texas and the cancellation on Wednesday of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Rodeo had been moved from its usual March time frame to May, but is now scuttled
