Will tran live in gilroy this morning. He has the latest for us will. Good news to pass along even though the fire continues to burn we did get an update from cal fire this morning and they did say the numbers remain the same it still 20 containment but more importantly the acreage remains at 5400 so i did not grow in the overnight hours and more importantly did not explode in the overnight hours. However it did more than triple from 24 hours ago i was i was at this location. 24 hours ago and it was at 1500 acres now were sitting at 5400 acres but more importantly. No fatalities and no injuries and 2 structures have been destroyed, but theyre not homes. This is an area you dont see any cars other than the media or the Fire Department because its still closed off to the public. This is the area that was evacuated on sunday as the fire continues to burn it is not windy at this time in the firefighters hope to take advantage of this window of opportunity to really make progress on the fir
Overnight hours the crews fire was 20 contained with 5400 acres burned. It remains the same which is good news meaning the fire did not grow in the overnight hours this is a long coming out a road this area was evacuated on sunday for everyone safety. You can see what the fire did to the land, its still smoldering in certain parts and every now and then a fire truck comes along and puts out the hot spots as far as the cause of the fire that remains under investigation firefighters usually dont get to that and so they turned the corner and get the upper hand on the fire. We do know that 2 structures were destroyed no homes, no fatalities and no major injuries. The challenge for firefighters is to keep the fire along the ridge line along the hills, the city of gilroy is about 3 miles from this location. And they dont want the fire to jump from this location down to the city into the residential areas where the homes are located. Right now they also are keeping a close eye on one 52, its
Start off with a live look outside where it is just beautiful as the sun starts to come up. A live look of San Francisco. Just a very little bit of low cloud hanging out in the bay this morning but not anything in the way of fog. San francisco 53 degrees, oakland about 49 and were at 50 in santa rosa and livermore 55 and san jose about 56. I wanted to mention the crews fire we were talking about, we are having better conditions for Fire Fighters and 90 humidity in gilroy and the wind is 3, 4 Miles Per Hour and that is really good news for them. Gives them a chance to get arms around some containment this morning. Wind is relatively calm all across the bay and we got breezy and gusty yesterday and not expecting things to get quite so gusty today and the marine layer not terribly successful this morning so its just a few low clouds out there and well see more of that tomorrow with a chance of fog and today mild to warm temperatures and itll be a Beautiful Day around the bay. 60s on the c

I want to lead with several important announcements. Of 2020, ihe class am proud to say that you will have your opportunity to join with your classmates and families to celebrate your graduation. The department of education and the office of the secretary of Higher Education will both release guidance on this tomorrow, wednesday. It will allow for outdoor graduation ceremonies to celebrate our students accomplishments starting july 6. This guidance will include social distancing requirements and other Necessary Health and safety measures. Additionally, given that some graduating classes may be too large to accommodate a crowd within the restrictions in place for outdoor gatherings, this guidance may require multiple ceremonies to be held across different times and even different days to ensure proper social distancing. Our goal is to ensure our students are given the sendoff they richly deserve and in which they have been working toward. We want them to celebrate and be celebrated by t
