The Pine Bluff City Council approved four ordinances during a special called meeting Friday, two of which would move two taxes forward for residents to vote on in a special election in May.

The approval process continued for the rezoning request by Lisciotti Development Corp. to rezone approximately 5.5 acres from R-1, residential, to B-3, highway commercial, at the southeast corner of Olive Street and Interstate 530, a move that will make way for a Chick-fil-A franchise in Pine Bluff.
On a contentious 5-to-3 vote, the Pine Bluff City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution to take about $2.9 million in sales tax proceeds and put it toward a hotel that would be built next to the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
