© RAPSI, Vladimir Burnov 14:44 15/12/2020 MOSCOW, December 15 (RAPSI) – Members of Russia’s Presidential Council for Human Rights are working on the problem of denial of the attorneys’ access to their clients in detention, according to the body’s Chairman Valery Fadeyev. Earlier, lawyers complained that they could not visit their clients in Moscow’s Lefortovo detention center. Members of the Civic Chamber also repeatedly complained of this problem. However, investigators are allowed to attend the detention facility. When denying the lawyers’ access to their clients, Lefortovo penitentiary officers cite to the absence of investigators’ permit. However, the Criminal Procedure Code envisages that attorneys may attend detainees on the Lawyer ID card or warrant.
