Princess Anne is sad not to be going to the Tokyo Olympics
The 70-year-old royal - who is President of the British Olympic Association - has sent a message of support to Team GB ahead of the delayed 2020 event opening on Friday (23.07.21) and pledged to be among those proudly supporting the competitors from home 21 July 2021
In a video shared by Buckingham Palace, Anne said: As your President, I would like to wish you every success for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Although I am sad not to be there in person, I and the whole nation will be cheering for you and proudly supporting you from home.

In 1976, debuting as an Olympian in Montreal, Anne rode the Queen s horse Goodwill.
The princess also competed in multiple European Three-Day Event Championships, winning a gold medal in the 1971 individual discipline and silver in both the individual and team disciplines in 1975.
Anne s links to the Olympics continue even after her retirement from competitions, as in 1988 she was appointed a Member of the International Olympic Committee.
The Princess Royal is the patron of more than 300 organisations, many of which are focused on animal wellbeing and sports.
