The Pflugerville City Council on Tuesday night approved two contracts for a combined $68.4 million that will expand the city s treated water capacity and the treatment plant itself, and also help control the zebra mussel problem in Lake Pflugerville.
The water capacity project, which will be done by Legion Development, is expected to cost $1.4 million. Brandon Pritchett, the city s utilities director, said the project includes
the addition of a high-service pump that will increase the city s treated water capacity from 17.14 million gallons a day to 25.71 million. This will meet growing water demands and allow the city to stay in compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations until the water treatment plant expansion is completed, Pritchett said.
