With Christmas less than two weeks away, contributions are flowing into the Empty Stocking Fund campaign sponsored by The Gaston Gazette and the Salvation Army.
Contributions to the campaign can mean toys for children, food for families, and gifts for seniors during the holiday season.
The annual effort, which began on Thanksgiving Day and will continue through Christmas Eve, helps those who are suffering hard times, not only during the holiday season but throughout the year.
The Salvation Army expects to aid more than 1,000 children, 400 families, and 80 seniors through its Angel Tree program and other efforts.
The campaign has a goal again this year of $100,000.
