The Mills Miss A Deadline

By Craig Wallebeck Mar 2, 2021 7:43 AM The Melville Millionaires Junior A Hockey Club did not submit a plan to use the ice at the Horizon Credit Union Centre by the City Council imposed deadline of February 22nd. Director of Community Works Chris Bruce says this is mainly due to the current public health restrictions, but did say he remains in talks with the hockey team about what could be done should the SJHL season. Bruce says the arena will continue to operate as normal with the ice scheduled to come out around April 15th.

Melville Council Meets

Feb 17, 2021 4:39 AM With the Saskatchewan Government extending current health measures to March 19th, it raises the question of how this will effect the chances of an SJHL season resuming. The Melville Millionaires Junior A Hockey Club has until next Monday to submit a plan to City Council as to how they will utilize the Horizon Credit Union Centre should the season come back. If the Mils submit a plan before the deadline, City Council would review it during their March 1st meeting. Also last night, Mayor Walter Streelasky reacted to the provincial government extending the public health orders to March 19th. He said the current measures are bringing the COVID-19 case numbers down, which is good, and hopes we can keep COVID-19 and its variants at bay by adhering to the guidelines.
