Artist Mellissa Morris is beginning her fourth year as artist-in-residence at the 46 Pearl Street art studio in Hyannis, in the heart of the village’s HyArts Cultural District.
Artists-in-residence typically stay for a three-year term, but Morris’ residency, which began in 2017, has been extended into 2021 due to disruptions caused by the COVID pandemic, so she can complete some unfinished artworks that are underway.
About a year ago, she said, she began a project of making small dream catchers as gifts for friends and family. But she also started a bigger project in her head. “I could not help [imagining] a huge dream catcher in the trees behind 46 Pearl Street. .
