Melksham council leader and deputy mayor lose election vote

It s leader, Vanessa Fiorelli has lost her seat, as has deputy mayor Geoff Mitcham. Melksham Town is sub-divided into four Wards:North Ward, Central Ward and South Ward and Forest. Melksham East now has two Tories and two Together For Melksham - A Fresh Start councillors.  Melksham North also has one of each. And Melksham South has one Tory, one independent and two Together for Melkshams.  Together for Melksham, led by John Hubbard who was also elected to Wiltshire Council, is now the majority party with another three in Forest.   Graham Ellis, Melksham South Independent said:  Congratulations to Jon Hubbard on his election to Wiltshire Unitary Council to represent the south division of Melksham, and to Jon, Colin Goodhind, and Jacqui Crundell to serve for the ward on Melksham Town Council, alongside myself. There were more good candidates than vacancies in both elections, and my commiserations to the other candidates who all fought excellent campaigns.

Councillors told to not respond to Furlong Close queries

The care facility is run by charity Hft, which has handed in its notice to Wiltshire Council. Families say they have been left in limbo over the uncertain future of the Rowde site, which is home to vulnerable adults. Wiltshire Council cabinet member for adult social care, Simon Jacobs, had expressed his personal desire for residents of Furlong Close to remain at the facility for the remainder of their lives, in a meeting last week. Mark Mangham, a Liberal Democrat candidate for Bromham, Rowde and Roundway, has been working alongside Save Furlong Close campaigners to seek clarification on the future of the facility.
