My introduction to mahjongg began almost fifteen years ago when a friend asked if I wanted to join a group of Jewish mothers living in Mason who were learning to play. I didn’t know much about the game at the time, but the idea of spending an afternoon “schmoozing” while learning from a seasoned player was appealing, so I immediately agreed.
This past week marked the start of jury selection for the shooting that took place at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh on October 27, 2018. Not only did this hate crime specifically target the Jewish community, but it also happened on the same day as my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah.
