Death of Mikayla Miller triggers calls for an independent investigation, something rarely seen in cases Updated 7:25 AM; Nearly three weeks after the body of 16-year-old Mikayla Miller was found, a growing number of residents and politicians are calling for an independent investigation into her death. “Mikayla Miller deserved to grow old. She had so many basketball games, road trips and HBCU homecomings ahead of her. She deserved childhood uninterrupted,” Rep.
