A Coast charity delivering aide to drought-stricken communities is among several groups and businesses hoping for a reprieve from a looming emergency management levy increase.
Care Outreach co-founder Melissa Close said their centre, in the Coolum Eco Industrial Park, was part of the half of the estate earmarked for a more than 100 per cent increase of the levy.
Ms Close said the increase would impact the not-for-profit as the added costs would filter down in their outgoings.
“We’re a charity and everything we do is funded by donations,” she said.
She said it was difficult to understand why half the estate had been rezoned for the increase and others across the street hadn’t.
