ALBANY An undercover State Police investigator was nearby, watching as supporters of President Donald J. Trump began gathering in East Capitol Park on the morning of Jan. 6.
Many in the small group, which would swell in size over the next few hours to about 35 people, were holding flags and wearing Trump paraphernalia. They were there as part of a coordinated Stop the Steal rally timed to coincide with the massive gathering in Washington, D.C., that would subsequently turn violent as thousands of protesters forced their way into the U.S. Capitol leaving five people dead.

An admitted Antifa member and independent journalist was arrested over the stabbing of two Trump supporters outside the state Capitol in Albany, N.Y. on Wednesday. One of the victims had an eviscerated bowel and required emergency surgery.
Alexander Stokes Contompasis, 37, of Rensselaer, N.Y., has been charged with felony first-degree assault, second-degree assault, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing over the stabbings of two men that occurred during a brawl in East Capitol Park between Antifa and pro-Trump “Stop the Steal” protesters.

ALBANY - Two people were stabbed outside the state Capitol on Wednesday after a fight broke out between supporters and opponents of President Donald Trump, State Police said.
Multiple people were arrested after the scuffle between what appears to have been a confrontation between people who associated themselves with the Proud Boys, known as an extreme right-wing group, and Antifa, the extreme left-wing anti-fascist movement, according to the Times Union of Albany.
Just hours before a pro-Trump protest at the U.S. Capitol turned violent and led to a riot through the hallowed halls, State Police in Albany said troopers responded to a stabbing during a small pro-Trump rally in the East Capitol Park.
