TALLAHASSEE, FLa. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Monday that the state will lower the age for people to get a COVID-19 vaccine from 65 to 60 next week.
“That will apply across the board at all of the state pods, all of the pharmacies, all of the different drive-thru sites that are being operated,” DeSantis said. “If you’re 60 plus, you will be able to get sign up and be able to get the vaccine.”
The age change is effective March 15.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office sergeant who died from COVID-19 was given an honorable send-off on Friday morning.
The funeral for auxiliary Sgt. Louis Livatino, a 71-year-old New York native, Navy veteran and father, was held at North Jacksonville Baptist Church.
Dozens of officers from across the First Coast joined in the funeral service.

The Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police shared the news of Livatino s death on its Facebook page. Livatino was described as a dedicated family man and a man who served our community for free.
Livatino volunteered his time on the JSO Honor Guard, assisting patrol functions on countless assignments, according to FOP.
You can read Sheriff Williams full statement below: It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that early this morning, Police Auxiliary Sergeant Louis “Lou” Livatino (ID #70051) passed away following a tough battle of COVID-19 complications.
Lou, a United States Navy veteran, volunteered his time as a member of JSO’s Police Auxiliary Section for nearly 10 years. Additionally, he served on JSO’s Honor Guard, a position he cherished greatly.

Sheriff Mike Williams called him an amazing man who served the community for free. Sgt. Livatino volunteered his time on the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office Honor Guard and countless assignments assisting patrol functions, most times working as much if not more than full-time police officers, Williams said. A friend to all and he will be missed by all.
Remembrances for the late 71-year-old sergeant were posted by the Fraternal Order of Police and others, including former Sheriff s Office spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda. If you knew Lou, you loved Lou, Bujeda said. I will miss his kind soul and never-ending smile so much.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A reserve officer of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has died, the Fraternal Order of Police announced Wednesday.
Auxiliary Sgt. Louis Livatino, 71, was described as a dedicated family man who volunteered his time on the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and countless assignments assisting patrol functions, sometimes working as much or more than full-time officers. According to JSO, he had volunteered with the police auxiliary for 10 years.
“Lou lived a life dedicated to service and was willing to help wherever he could. Everyone at JSO who had the opportunity to work with Lou is mourning his passing and praying for his wife, Sheryl, and their family,” Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams wrote in a statement.
