Shopping cart jail: Stores face fines to reclaim abandoned carts

Had trouble finding a shopping cart lately? Some stores are having trouble keeping them on lots because people keep stealing them. Now, laws intended to keep cities free of abandoned carts may be contributing to the problem - by charging stores fines to reclaim them.

This 100-year-old barn that housed racehorses has moved — again

The first time, was just after World War II ended. The second was last Tuesday. The barn was first housed in the center of Wilson, Kansas. After a little less than half a century, it moved to rural Ellsworth County, and now it is back in town. In 1906, this stylish structure wrapped in tin housed racehorses in the city center. When it moved to the country, it housed livestock. Starting on Memorial Day, this historic 40-by-60-foot structure will cater to humans. Melinda Merrill, the owner of Wilson s historic Midland Railroad Hotel, purchased the building and had it moved to less than 50 yards from its original setting.
