Since then, many students experience varying degrees of discontentment with remote learning and isolation. They may feel stress and tension due to cabin fever, conflict with family members, Internet outages, procrastination, insufficient feedback, excessive school work or inadequate teacher-student communication. Some may even lament that their teachers are indifferent to their academic challenges. Nevertheless, such extraordinarily unfavourable circumstances lead many teachers to change their requirements for, or expectations of students by providing flexibility and accommodations. Empathy has greater significance in their pedagogy at a time when almost everyone is working under undue pressure.
