The Clinton County History Center open house and exhibit grand reopening is set for 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 27 including free tours and door prize drawings. Refreshments will be provided; masks and social distancing indoors are requested.
The museum features a new Native American heritage exhibit plus a lecture on it from 6-6:30 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. is a ribbon-cutting in partnership with the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce.
The History Center is at 149 E. Locust St., Wilmington.

Located in the center of the South’s Music Triangle between Memphis, Nashville and Alabama’s famed Muscle Shoals, students at Mt. Pleasant High School aim to make their own mark on the region’s rich traditions of recorded music.
On Monday, the school unveiled its new recording studio and broke it in with memorable riffs and drum beats from the school s current and past talented musicians.
Following the studio’s opening celebration, three students, who make up the band On the Spot were busy performing their own set and instrumental interpretations of rock classics for the school’s studio television production class.
Harvey paintings return to History Center after digitization project

WILMINGTON The Clinton County History Center’s collection of Eli Harvey paintings, which were transported to the Ohio History Connection in November 2020 for digitization, have been returned to the museum.
The staff will reinstall numerous paintings and sketches on the walls of the Center’s museum in preparation for their season reopening on Friday, April 16.
A special thanks is given to Buffy and Molly Boatman, who volunteered to assist in transportation.
To view the paintings, tours can be scheduled in advance by calling 937-382-4684. Public hours for the 2021 season will be Fridays 1-4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Clinton County Historical Society: Progressing despite past year’s pandemic

WILMINGTON The Clinton County Historical Society met virtually on Tuesday, March 9 for its annual meeting to review the previous year.
Four current board members were nominated for reelection – Harry Brumbaugh, Stan Hannah, Susan Henry and Patti Herron.
Executive Director Shelby Boatman provided a detailed report on the past year.
Before a 2020 state mandate closed the doors of the History Center for three months, the Society hosted a joint effort with the Wilmington Area Ministerial Association at the Murphy Theatre in honor of Black History Month.
Due to COVID-19, the Society witnessed a significant reduction in visitors and income, but used the year to expand its digital footprint by improving their website and providing webinar-style lectures on topics including Women’s Suffrage. The Society created a YouTube channel and electronic Clinton County Historical Marker Guidebook

WILMINGTON A local historic barn of Gene and Christine Hadley Snyder is featured in a new book, “Historic Barns of Ohio.”
Built circa 1830 by Christine’s great-great-great grandfather Eli Harvey, the barn has a fascinating back story that goes all the way back to King Charles II of England and William Penn.
