A MUM has been left having night terrors after being forced to live in “inhumane” living conditions. Charlotte Ayling, 36, is pleading with Castle Point Council to move her into emergency accommodation while essential works are carried out on her damp property which is covered in black mould. The Echo previously reported that the mum-of-two moved to the property on Melcombe Road, Benfleet, eight years ago and has since faced a number of issues with mice, damp and mould. The family-of-three have now been hit with five floods in the council-owned home after their shower leaked, leaving their walls and floors soaked.
A DESPERATE mum is pleading with the council to move her out of her “rotten” home after years of living among mould and mice. Charlotte Ayling, 36, moved to the property in Benfleet eight years ago after moving out of a mother and baby unit. She lives in the two bedroom maisonette on Melcombe Road with her two children. But since moving into the council-owned property, Charlotte has faced a number of problems with dampness and mould, with her children forced to share a bedroom despite being 13 and 14. She has now called on the council to get her out of the home she’s “embarrassed” of.
