Abbott says over 500K Texans have had power restored after massive outage Replay Video UP NEXT AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) - As of early Tuesday morning, over 40% of Austin Energy customers remain without power during single-digit temperatures caused by the massive winter storm that s enveloped Texas. As of 8:50 a.m., 220,118 customers are affected, Austin Energy says, partly as a result of shutdowns mandated by the state s utility authority, ERCOT, because of the enormous demand for energy as temperatures plunge. But some people have been wondering why Downtown Austin appears to be entirely immune from these outages.
