Lawyers group raises alarm against killings, attacks

UMIL MANILA – Seventy three judges and lawyers have been killed in the last 10 years, according to the National Union of People’s Lawyers. In a forum entitled Lawyers in the Line of Fire: Tales from Survivors, NUPL’s Melanie Pinlac revealed that from 2011 to April 22, 2021 at least 11 judges, nine prosecutors, six lawyers in government service, and 47 lawyers in private practice (five were public interest and human rights lawyers) were killed.
