Creekman raises funds for charity with annual cold swim

KITTERY, Maine – Anyone near Spruce Creek in Kittery on Saturday might have been surprised to see the lone swimmer in what was clearly very cold water, unless they already knew of the yearly swim that happens on the seacoast for charity.
Every year, Gary “Creekman” Sredzienski, a resident of Kittery Point, chooses a charity to support, and a body of water to swim to raise money for his chosen cause. This year, his 13th swim, was for Lafayette House in Portsmouth.
Sredzienski swam the frigid water, entering Spruce Creek at Robert’s Maine Grill and Raw Bar on Route 1, and swam about two miles to exit at the Crockett Neck Road Bridge near Fort McClary.
