St Martin News Network - NAGICO sponsors tools for SXM DOET s largest volunteering event

Published: 18 May 2021 PHILIPSBURG: - In support of SXM Doet’s plan to undertake their largest volunteer event, NAGICO Insurances has donated the cost of the work material needed to undertake the project at the Sister Magda Primary School, which is one of the projects being hosted for SXM Doet 2021. The donation was made in the form of a voucher to a major hardware store where the school will be able to select and pick up their tools at no cost to them. The project at Sister Magda that will take place on Saturday, May 29th, is symbolic of the event, as it marks their 7th anniversary and will focus on completing various projects and odd jobs.

Published: 15 March 2021 PHILIPSBURG: -  This Friday, March 19, 2021, is the SXM DOET funding application deadline. “We would like to kindly remind all community organizations who what to execute projects during SXM Doet 2021 to register and fill out the applications by this date,” states Melanie Choisy of SXM DOET. This year, SXM DOET is taking place on May 28 & 29, 2021 (instead of the usual mid-March dates). Foundations, schools, associations, sports teams, clubs, church, and youth groups are all encouraged to participate in SXM DOET 2021 by either hosting a project themselves or by signing up to volunteer. Organizations and volunteers can register via SXM DOET’s online platform: www.sxmdoet.com.

Published: 14 January 2021 PHILIPSBURG: - The Oranje Fonds is postponing the Kingdom-wide ‘DOET Event’ 2021 by 2.5 months. This includes SXM DOET, which is executed by Be The Change Foundation on Sint Maarten. “Together with the other Dutch Caribbean islands and The Netherlands, we have chosen to postpone our yearly SXM DOET event to 28 and 29 May 2021. We will aim to hold the volunteer event during that time with safety as our priority. Projects will only be allowed to take place if they can comply with COVID-regulations.” explains Melanie Choisy, President of Be The Change Foundation. “Let’s achieve more together, safely” is the slogan for the 2021 event. Participating organizations and volunteers are asked to adhere to a set of rules and guidelines so that projects can be completed in a safer manner.
